Michellin Pilot Persada 2 (PP2)
I have been driving my car for more than 2 years. It is still running fine despite some quality issue cropping up. The power that it delivers never fail to entertain me. But I would not resist if it can push a little further (RE: performance upgrades). But until then, I will have to get myself to print more notes ($$) before I could safely play with the big boy toys.
Rain has been falling quite frequent for the past few days. It pours so much coincident when I was going to travel back home. Don’t get me wrong, I love raining season. It just that, traffic jams are always coincide.
Safety is always my concern. As I have been driving the honda civic FD1 for more than 2 years (> 40k mileage), the tread is wearing off pretty fast. I can see the tread indicator hitting me to get a new tyres (or tires?). It would not be advisable to drive with a worn out tires with my style of driving. I were once involved in an accident and it was due to a minor skid, when I had my brake applied but the car did not stop in time, in which I believe it was due to the wet road that caused the tire gripping to fail.
So this time round I went to change my tire early. I forgot to snap a photo on my old tires before I bid goodbye. I surveyed around the net and found myself better suit with performance tires. So there I went, without further hesitation, went to my trusted tire workshop (Soon Leong tyre service center). It cost me around 470 per tyre including on-wheel and off-wheel balancing, allignment, and metal stem valve (which they claimed it would be more long lasting).
It’s only been 3 days now and what I could say about the tires is that, it grips better than my stock tires (Goodyear NCT5 was the original fitted brand). It grips too well that I can sense it degrades the performance of the car. I need to push the car a little more to get it runs. I believe it would somehow affects the fuel consumption too. But the main objective is still fulfilled. Safety is more of my priority than comfort or economical saving.
Hope it would not wear off so soon. This maintenance itself has burn a hole in my wallet. I need some time to recover before the next performance upgrade. Till then
