Dell Inspiron 630m Memory Upgrade Procedure

Been using my laptop for a while now and the speed is getting slower each day. I doubt it’s due to the aging process (TM) but rather the advances of technology. I am planning to get one in to somehow hope for some improvement. But the max I could get is only an additional 1Gb and that would cost me near to 300RM. That would makes up about 1/7 to replace the whole set. But money doesn’t come easy for me so I still stick with my plan.

While enquiring for the item through dell customer service line, it’s a breeze to get them, they are asking me if I need a qualified dell’s technician to fix it for me which would cost additional 168RM. As I am a stingypoor guy, I am opting to install it myself. But the usual question arise, how? I am not a system admin/engineer myself, tho I did touch a little on the hardware of a PC, but this time it will be a laptop which obviously a different box altogether. So the kind cust. service officer asked me to visit a website, where you key in the tag and those related sites will be displayed. And after ending the call, I went to find it but sadly, I got an invalid service tag error instead. I was expecting for manuals! So I scout around, found this cool article
How do I identify and upgrade the memory on my Dell™ Computer?. Hey, I thought I found it but after following the step by step procedure, I still dont get my manuals.

Then, my usual instinct guides me to google and hope for some positive result. Viola! Dell Inspiron™ 630m Service Manual is all there hosted and accessible! Too good to be true, they even provided pictures to guide you in the process. Awesome! I still give my trust to Dell, literally.

And, and, there’s this page “View the system information for a particular service tag” that allows you to retrieve information about your system hardware information. Love-ly!

Wait, I think I’ve just promoted Dell and NO, I am not getting paid for this. I am just a fans of Dell.

Online Purchase Scam on Paypal funds

I got to know this from one of the infamous local forum. This is how it goes.

Person “A” sells an item with condition, only bank in cash is accepted. The same person, “A”, went and seek for paypal fund sellers. Then, person “B” is interested with the paypal fund (the trading of paypal fund is selling at lower rate). Person “C” is interested with the item Person “A” is selling. Person “A” then ask person “C” to bank in the money to Person “B” account, and once done, ask Person “B” to transfer the agreed paypal fund to Person “A” paypal’s account.

By looking at this, there might be some continuous fraud going on from Person “A” and this might ended up with much more dispute before the scam is prevail. It’s always be advisable to verify the history of a seller or buyer before proceeding any transaction.

You won’t want to have your hard earned cash goes down the drain, aight?
