World Vision 30 Hour Famine
I joined the voluntary team for the 30-hour Famine event organized by World Vision in an effort to collect donations for the needy.

World Vision is a Christian relief, development and advocacy organisation dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. Inspired by our Christian values, World Vision is dedicated to working with the world’s most vulnerable people. World Vision serves all people regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender.

This was the first time I am part of the community services team. Frankly, I never been to any community services event and I strongly believe it is a meaningful effort for good cause. I was introduced with this event by the special someone (TM) and feeling rather guilty, I volunteered to join in.

The 30-Hour Famine is a global movement against hunger and poverty. Famine participants go without food for 30 hours and get a glimpse of the dire conditions that children and families in need endure everyday.
They also raise funds, transforming their hunger into hope for children and families in need. The Famine aims to inspire and empower ordinary people to care for those in need, both locally and globally.

Practically, the objective of the event is not purely meant to collect donations, but it was to explain the feeling of absolute hunger. There are people in the other part of the world who are suffering from hungers and got no food to live. Some even have too less food that affects their health. Through the campaign, participants would know and gone through the numbness, moodiness, and lack of energy in striving for 30 hours without any food but water.

I would want to be one of the participant one fine day, to share the suffers and in hope to treassure what I have now and not to complaint more. Through this, we would appreciate more what we are given and not to waste or demand further.

I was with the registration team, responsible to usher in the participant with welcoming smile. I was explained that the participants have went through a day of fasting, thus they may not in a positive mood. It was all good and everything went well even it was raining cat and dog on the second half. The rains does not stop the spirit of the participant from going through the whole campaign. A kudos to all of them who have made it and took the initiative to understand the suffers that srike the third world country. I as the volunteer, felt great to have involved in tiny part of the event in making it a success.

Samsung Omnia i900 ROM update

Samsung has officially released the first ROM update. Many negative reports have been circulating after the update, despite hoping for better improvement. This makes me think of some work related incident, where upgrading should be of an improvement toward the application and not the other way round, but usually the later. After reading the functionality spec of the phone on Samsung Official website, I was looking forward to grab one once my financial stables but now, I think I should wait for it to stabilize and observe for better products should there be any. I hope by then, the price of it will drop by 75% and will certainly gain another point for having it. ;)
